At work, I’m managing quite a number of websites. We have all the clients sites setup with their own account in cPanel and in quite a number of cases were running WordPress to content manage. As the number of sites we’re managing is going up, maintenance is becoming something of an issue, and falling behind on an update is simple a no go – hackers are ready to take pot shots at WordPress installations at a moments notice, due to something like 15% of the webs top sites running it (http://wordpress.org/news/2011/08/state-of-the-word/). Installing Plesk
This tutorial outlines how to install a basic Plesk installation and was done on a fresh Cent OS 5 Rackspace Cloud Server build. I believe that Plesk is free for one domain. Should you wish to host more domains or provide reseller account you will have to purchase a copy of the software from Plesk’s store -http://www.parallels.com/store/plesk/linux. Installing WHM/cPanel
This is a tutorial you can use to help you install WHM/cPanel on your server.cPanel is not free and you will have to purchase a license from the cPanel site (http://www.cpanel.net/), however, they do offer a trial license, to allow you to evaluate the product which will last you 15 days. Before continuing this tutorial, head over to https://www2.cpanel.net/store/ and get a license.
