Study web development at Harvard University, for free!
I have found a resource that I have found hugely useful in improving my web development skills. Harvard University released a series of incredibly insightful lectures entitled, Computer Science E75, and I have been sitting these in order to expand my knowledge of web development.
The course covers a number of topics including HTTP, PHP, XML, SQL, JavaScript, AJAX, security and scaleability, all of which hugely helpful. A number of other little nuggets of information also show up in lectures, thanks to students questions and a number of the lectures pet hate or suggested best practices.
As a PHP developer I have found them hugely useful and have developed my knowledge base impressively, I would suggest you at east give the lectures a look as they may help your development as a programmer. Lectures run at around 2 hours in length so a cup of coffee and a comfy spot are advised but I would guarantee most of you will find this lecture series useful.
Take a look via the link below and leave comments below on your thoughts on the videos.

Howdy this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
I would suggest using a WYSIWYG editor as it makes things so much easier, however, knowledge of HTML and a little CSS is incredibly useful as sometimes the editor can mess up the formatting of your content and being able to dive in to take a look is the only way to fix the issue. I would suggest looking at tutorials on sites such as W3Schools and checking out the IRC #html chat room on the freenode.net channel. There are usually a load of devs around that will be able to help you out with any issues.
I absolutely love the template on this wordpress blog. Can you let me know where to get it? Many thanks!
I designed and made it myself. I’m begin to feel it needs changing as I want something cleaner and simpler.
